What is Rick Simpson Oil?

What ‘s So Special About Rick Simpson Oil?

If you’ve looked into marijuana for medical purposes, you may have come across Rick Simpson Oil. RSO is a unique cannabis extract which got its fame from a man named, you guessed it, Rick Simpson.

Rick Simpson Oil is a highly-potent cannabis extract with high levels of THC, the main psychoactive component in cannabis. The oil is made by taking dried indica flower and concentrating its THC with a solvent. Indica is preferred over other strains because of its sedative effects. With so much plant material and no carrier oils, the resulting oil is dark brown and thick, unlike many extracts we’re used to seeing.

The oil first came to be in 2003. Doctors diagnosed Rick Simpson with a form of skin cancer and turned to cannabis to help. He previously asked his doctor if cannabis could help with his other ailments, only to receive disapproval. He sought out the plant himself and found it relieved his symptoms. When the cancer diagnosis hit, he recalled a study finding evidence that cannabis could shrink tumors in mice and decided to try a topical cannabis solution.

He applied cannabis extracts to a bandage and kept his tumors covered for four days. When he removed the bandages, the tumors were gone. This revelation led to the invention of Rick Simpson Oil. He began to share his knowledge, even harvesting cannabis and creating oil for others in need before facing legal trouble. Now, Rick Simpson encourages others to make the oil themselves and provides instructions on his website.

At Lazy Bee Gardens, the Rick Simpson story is personal. Founder Matthew Frigone’s own cannabis story began when his father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Determined to fight back, he began to grow his own cannabis and make RSO for his dad. The result? Success. Without chemotherapy or pills, his dad became cancer-free.

Rick Simpson suggests to start taking RSO with three small daily doses (about the size of half a grain of rice) every eight hours. Within about an hour of each dose, users may begin to feel effects. Users should double their dose every four days. After three to five weeks, most users should be able to handle 1 ml or gram per day.
