What is Rick Simpson Oil?

What ‘s So Special About Rick Simpson Oil?

If you’ve looked into marijuana for medical purposes, you may have come across Rick Simpson Oil. RSO is a unique cannabis extract which got its fame from a man named, you guessed it, Rick Simpson.

Rick Simpson Oil is a highly-potent cannabis extract with high levels of THC, the main psychoactive component in cannabis. The oil is made by taking dried indica flower and concentrating its THC with a solvent. Indica is preferred over other strains because of its sedative effects. With so much plant material and no carrier oils, the resulting oil is dark brown and thick, unlike many extracts we’re used to seeing.

Spark an Adventure at Ravenna Park

Spark an Urban Adventure at Seattle’s Ravenna Park

There’s something undeniably special about the PNW in the weeks leading up to winter. Sure, it’s cold, but not so cold we can’t bundle up with our favorite gear and take a walk. It’s dark early too, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of the daylight and soak up the in-between when the sun is burning but the woods are still illuminated by its last traces.

Enter Moe and Krys, also known as Kush Kompanionz, who moved across the country from Florida to Washington for our cannabis industry. We are so happy they made the big move to join us in the land of i502 and on our adventures through Seattle parks. It’s empowering to see people move to our state to be a part of something bigger, like the cannabis industry.

Wrapped in the fresh aroma of citrus and pine, Powder Hound provides a full-bodied smoke that will energize and stimulate the mind and body, making it the perfect strain for daytime use and outdoor adventures.

Spark An Adventure: Skykomish Swimming Holes

There’s no better way to beat the summer heat than to spend the day relaxing by the water and toking up. We recently felt lucky enough to have Anjelika (@abilitytogive) show us one of her favorite swimming holes, a serene riverside space in Skykomish.

The Skykomish drains from the Cascade mountains into Snohomish County with beautiful forest and tributaries stretched throughout. Many people take to kayaking, rafting, swimming, and fishing in the Skykomish river each year. We spent the day kicking back on the rocks and enjoying the soothing sights and sounds of our secret swimming hole.

What Is Sungrown Cannabis?

As the name suggests, sungrown cannabis is cannabis grown exclusively from the energy provided by the sun. No industrial lighting, no electricity, just nature.

While each growing method has its own unique advantages, growing cannabis outside with the help of nature provides a sustainable edge. Sungrown cannabis requires no electricity and instead relies on the environment to provide sunlight and necessary elements for growth, producing stronger, superior plants to other methods.

Spark an Adventure at Boulder River

Over the river and through the woods lies a lush oasis. A large waterfall splits down a mossy cliff. Vibrant teal glacial waters flow over smooth rocks. Are we in the tropics? Nope, it’s Boulder River in Washington State!

We recently went out to spark an adventure at this secluded spot. Boulder River is a bumpy drive (seriously, don’t drive a small car out there) out of cell range so it’s not usually crowded. Our friend and talented photographer Keti also joined.

Sun Cup 2019 Highlights

On Saturday Lazy Bee Gardens and Washington’s sun-grown farmers gathered at the Seattle Glass Blowing Studio to celebrate the 2019 Sun Cup. The event, organized by the Washington SunGrowers Industry Association (WSIA), included guest speakers, a silent auction, catered food and of course — industry awards.

The event drew an estimated 150 attendees. Keynote speaker, living soil expert Jeff Lowenfells, discussed organic and sustainable farming. We also heard an industry update from WSIA’s lobbyist and background on genetics from breeder, Gas.

Terpestival 2019 Recap

We recently attended the 2019 Terpestival at the Seattle Glassblowing Studio. The event, coordinated by the Center for the Study of Cannabis and Social Policy, is a private mixer as well as an opportunity to recognize Washington brands. The Lazy Bee team felt honored to not only attend, but also win two awards.

The evening started with dabs from our friends at Olala. They are one of several companies we work with to process our flower into oil, and love the work they do. We especially loved their flavorful extracts with our Tesla Tower.

Spark an Adventure at Franklin Falls

Winter is in full effect. Both the cities and mountains have been bombarded by snow. Employees are bundled up as they work from home. But if you’re like Lazy Bee Gardens, this is the best time to spark an adventure. And that’s just what we did as we trekked through the snow to one of our favorite locations — Franklin Falls.

This trail is a standout, and the first to kick off our #SparkAnAdventure campaign. We chose Franklin Falls for its proximity to Seattle, vibrant green waters and of course, the magnificent waterfall that becomes a frozen wonder in the winter. If you’re new to Washington, or even new to hiking, this trail is a must.

Tour Lazy Bee's Clean Green Certified Farm

Lazy Bee Gardens is Tier 3 Producer/Processor located in Winthrop, Washington. We are proud to be Clean Green Certified, practice sustainable farming methods and produce terpene rich products. We’re often asked bout our farm, so want to share an inside look at our operation.

We grow roughly 5,000 plants per year. Our 2018 harvest included a mix of greenhouse and open air sun-grown cannabis. The entire field is almost an acre, but due to Washington State Liquor Cannabis Board (WSLCB) regulations, Lazy Bee’s flowering canopy space is only 30,000 square feet.
